When AAUW began in 1881, few women had the opportunity to pursue a degree, prompting founder Marion Talbot to support a fund for women’s education. Today, women outnumber men in earning degrees at nearly every level. Yet our work is far from done.
By joining AAUW, you belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women and girls have a fair chance.
Our members are passionate about raising awareness to the many issues women and girls face today. AAUW also encourages women in leadership positions, exploring and entering politics, and having a voice.
Our branch is active! We have lots of activities, including monthly programs starting with our Membership lunch in September and ending with a Recognition event in June. The various interest groups within the branch are a great way to have fun and to socialize with other members.
