Local Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Half Moon Bay High School or Pescadero High School who have completed 60 undergraduate units and are entering either their Jr. or Sr. year of university. We usually award 3-5 scholarships each year. They must fill out a form and write a letter of application, which is reviewed by a panel of 5 AAUW members.

Since 1973 our branch has awarded $145,000 in local scholarships to young college women on the Coastside. In 2009, we were able to increase the amount awarded to each recipient to $2,000.

Congratulations to our five 2022 AAUW-HMB Local Scholarship recipients!  Three of our recipients are pursuing Nursing majors, one in Math and the other in Social Work!

Recipients from previous years include a Mechanical Engineering major with a Biology minor who is planning to work in prosthetic design and biomechanics, a Social Work with Mental Health focus major, and a Civil Engineering major with emphasis on Bridges.
